Suvarnabhumi Airport is preparing for a major expansion with the opening of its third runway in November 2024. This new 4,000-meter runway will boost capacity to 94 flights per hour, up from the current limit, and significantly reduce delays.
The increased efficiency is expected to improve passenger experience, attract more airlines, and boost Thailand's economy through increased tourism and trade. This is just the first phase of expansion; future plans include a fourth runway and a new South Terminal, ultimately aiming to handle 150 million passengers annually. The goal is to solidify Suvarnabhumi's position as a leading aviation hub in Southeast Asia.✈️

Flight Capacity
The third runway enables Suvarnabhumi Airport to boost its hourly flight handling from 68 to a future 94, reducing congestion and minimizing delays for passengers and airlines alike.

Economic Growth
Higher flight capacity will drive Suvarnabhumi’s projected revenue from 4.72 billion baht in 2024 to 9.09 billion baht by 2027, supporting Thailand's economy and benefiting local businesses.

Global Hub
Plans for a fourth runway and new South Terminal will increase Suvarnabhumi’s capacity to 70 million passengers annually, cementing Bangkok as a key global travel hub for years to come.
